AIFINA stands for Federation Internationale de Natation, the international governing body for aquatic sports.
1. It was founded in 1908.
2. It governs swimming, diving, water polo, synchronised swimming and open-water swimming.
3. It frames the rules and conducts world championships and the aquatic events of the Olympic Games.
4. It recognises world records and its headquarters are in Lausanne, Switzerland.
