AI(i) Lane ropes: floating ropes made of discs that separate the lanes in a pool, running the full length of the pool, from end to end. They reduce waves and keep swimmers in their lanes.
(ii) Automatic officiating equipment: electronic equipment, such as touch pads, starting system and a timing board, which record the swimmers' times and places accurately, to the hundredth of a second.
