AI(a) Possession Arrow: An indicator located at the official scorer's table used to implement the alternating possession rule. Whenever a jump ball situation occurs (such as a held ball or double foul), instead of executing a physical jump ball, possession of the ball is awarded to the team indicated by the possession arrow. After the throw-in is completed, the direction of the arrow is immediately reversed.
(b) Slam dunk: A high-impact scoring technique in basketball where an offensive player jumps high into the air near the basket and forcefully thrusts the ball directly downward through the basket ring with one or both hands, often grasping or touching the rim.
