Write the chemical equation for the following.
Give balanced equation for each of the following: Aniline and acetyl chloride
Answer
Answer
AIEquation: $\mathrm{C_{6}H_{5}NH_{2}} + \mathrm{CH_{3}COCl} \xrightarrow{\text{pyridine}} \mathrm{C_{6}H_{5}NHCOCH_{3}} + \mathrm{HCl}$
Reaction: Acetylation
Product: acetanilide (N-phenylethanamide)
Aniline is acetylated by acetyl chloride to give acetanilide.
