Answer the following.
Write balanced chemical equations for Carbylamine reaction and Diazotization reaction.
Answer
Answer
AIEquations: $\mathrm{C_{6}H_{5}NH_{2}} + \mathrm{CHCl_{3}} + 3\mathrm{KOH} \xrightarrow{\text{heat}\text{ }\text{(alcoholic}\text{ }\text{KOH)}} \mathrm{C_{6}H_{5}NC} + 3\mathrm{KCl} + 3\mathrm{H_{2}O}$ $\mathrm{C_{6}H_{5}NH_{2}} + \mathrm{NaNO_{2}} + 2\mathrm{HCl} \xrightarrow{\text{273-278}\text{ }\text{K}} \mathrm{C_{6}H_{5}N_{2}Cl} + \mathrm{NaCl} + 2\mathrm{H_{2}O}$
Products: phenyl isocyanide (phenylcarbylamine), benzenediazonium chloride
Carbylamine reaction: a primary amine heated with chloroform and alcoholic KOH gives an isocyanide. Diazotisation: a primary aromatic amine with nitrous acid ($\mathrm{NaNO_2}$ + HCl) at 273-278 K gives a diazonium salt.
