(a) Carry (Catch / Lifted ball): A ball-handling fault in volleyball where a player catches, scoops, rests, or lifts the ball momentarily in their hands or arms rather than cleanly rebounding or deflecting it upon contact. The referee signals this fault by raising the forearm with the palm facing upward. (b) Cross court shot: An offensive spike or attack hit executed by an attacker that directs the ball diagonally across the court from one side of the attacker's front zone to the opposite side of the opponent's court (e.g., from left-front zone 4 to the opponent's zone 4/5).
