Football: answer in detail.
Explain the following terms: (i) Offside (ii) Dropped-ball
Answer
Answer
AI(i) Offside: a player is in an offside position if any part of the head, body or feet is in the opponents' half and nearer to the opponents' goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent when the ball is played to the player by a team-mate. The player is penalised only if involved in active play, and an indirect free kick is awarded to the opponents.
(ii) Dropped ball: a method of restarting play when the referee has stopped the game for a reason not covered by the Laws while the ball is in play. The referee drops the ball for one player of the team that last touched it, and play restarts when the ball touches the ground.
