AI(i) Stagger: the difference in starting positions of lanes on a curved track, so that every athlete runs the same distance.
(ii) Athlete: a person who takes part in a sport or event, such as track and field.
(iii) Shoulder shrug: a weight-training exercise in which the shoulders are raised towards the ears with weights held in the hands, to strengthen the trapezius.
(iv) Heat: a preliminary round of a race held when there are too many athletes for one race, to decide who goes to the next round.
(v) Lane: a marked strip of the track within which an athlete must run, 1.22 m wide.
