How will you bring about the following conversion?
Propene to 1-bromopropane.
Answer
Answer
AIEquation: $\mathrm{CH_{3}CH=CH_{2}} + \mathrm{HBr} \xrightarrow{\text{peroxide}} \mathrm{CH_{3}CH_{2}CH_{2}Br}$
Propene adds HBr in the presence of a peroxide (anti-Markovnikov addition, Kharasch effect) to give 1-bromopropane.
