What happens when (write chemical equations): (a) Benzaldehyde is heated with alcoholic $\text{KCN}$. (b) Formaldehyde is heated with conc. $\text{NaOH}$ solution. (c) Acetone is treated with hydroxylamine.

An aliphatic compound [A] with the molecular formula $\text{C}_2\text{H}_4\text{O}$ is reduced to compound [B]. Compound [B] reacts with $\text{PCl}_5$ and forms compound [C]. Compound [C] on treatment with alcoholic $\text{KOH}$ forms compound [D] which is used to make a daily use plastic. Identify the compounds [A], [B], [C] and [D].
